I really didn’t want to write this, but the drink I just had is making me spill the beans…
For all of you physics buffs out there, I would like to point out that there are some serious misunderstandings with respect to the standard model.
For the longest time, whenever I would think about the standard model and ponder just what exactly if the photon, I used to sit and think of the photon as some little weak mass-less particle that wasn’t capable of doing much more than simply delivering information.
Quite the contrary it seems. The photon is a “big boy” for lack of a better term and the photon carries with it a much larger portion of the secrets of the standard model than we give it credit for.
You see, the photon, unbeknownst to those “in the know” (if you can call them that), in modern physics, is a major player.
And when I say major, I mean that the photon, the exact same quantum mechanical wave function as the strong nuclear force, is one that has been retooled (by somebody?) into something else.
The strong nuclear force is the same as the electromagnetic force…except for the fact that it exists in its unfolded form…kinda like a de-natured protein.
I mean, think about it. If the photon was some tiny mass-less force, would scientists be considering the use of “solar sails” as a means of a propulsion substitute? I think not!
The photon is a mega-mass (only because it is an open ended wave function – as opposed to a closed one) particle with the versatility required to be “retooled” into something(s) necessary for the universe we reside in…!
