How Many Websites Should An Internet Marketer Have?

If you’re asking that question, then the short answer is "one". You should build and learn how to monetize only one site if you have to ask that question.

If you’re new to the whole IM thing, then it is always a good idea to proceed with more than the usual caution. Why? Simple. Internet marketers are great at upselling, and they can convince you to buy anything in just about any quantity.

The reason I am writing this is because I all too often read stories and threads like [ the one about this guy ]. Take a minute and read through the thread. Its a real eye opener.

Now that the true risks of IM are on the table, the following is a step by step plan I recommend if you’re interested in getting into internet marketing.

Find A Niche

Picking a niche is imoprtant in that you want to select something that you can blog about consistently. You would be surprised how quickly you can exhaust everything you have to say or can write about any given "micro-niche". When you pick a niche, pick something hot enough and broad enough to give yourself room to play.

By doing this, you can write articles about specific products, but your site will still have room to cover various topics in that niche.

I highly recommend going after a "proven money maker" niche, something like "health", "relationships", "investing", "marketing", or anything that will give you some breathing room.

Once you have decided on your niche, get yourself [ a domain name and some hosting ]. Pick a domain name that is simple and easy to remember and preferrably "brandable", especially after the Google EMD update.

Install Your Website

This process is pretty much point and click at this point. I recommend logging onto your HostGator account and using the "Fantastico" installer to set up a WordPress script on your domain name.

If you are not sure how to set up a website in CPanel, then we offer a FREE WEBSITE INSTALLATION SERVICE for people who purchase a domain and hosting through our affiliate link. Read more about it [ here ]. If you choose to do this, clear your cookies first. We will confirm your purchase in our HostGator affiliate account. Then send us your login details via our [ Contact Us Page ] and we will set up your website for you. Its super easy! I do this for businesses in my local area.

Start Writing Posts

Content is what will draw visitors to your site. Quality content and lots of it…added on a regular basis…kinda like an online magazine. You will probably have to write it all yourself, but that’s no problem because we all have to do this when we are just starting out.

The important thing is that you stick with it and update regularly…otherwise your traffic tapers off. You have to do this to build it up and keep it up.

Get An Autoresponder And Load It Up With Messages

Definitely get yourself an autoreponder. I like [ GetResponse ]. You want to load it up with messages that target your audience and monetize them with affiliate ads that are also targeted.

The best place to put a subscription form on your site is the at the top of the right hand column. The easiest way to do this is to download a copy of [ Premium List Magnet ] and drag the optin widget to the top position on your sidebar. Then, all you have to do is add your autoresponder optin code to the PLM plugin campaign manager and VOILA, you’re ready.

That’s It!

That’s how you set up a basic website. I highly recommend giving this methodology a try and focusing on your one website until you successfully learn how to monetize it as well as work out all of the bugs and kinks. This way, you will not go bankrupt trying to manage an army of unprofitable sites, all the while getting eaten alive by domain and hosting fees.

If you need any help, remember the free blog installation service that we offer for those who purchase a domain and hosting through our affiliate link. All you have to do is clear your cookies, purchase through our affiliate link and then send us your login details using our contact us page.

  1. It is true, just one site is more than enough for any internet marketer. He would be able to handle it better because there is only one site to concentrate on. He can put all his efforts on that one particular internet marketing site and get the best out of it. Monetary gains are for sure then.

  2. There is nothing wrong in having multiple online marketing sites. However, like it is said that too much of things done together may spoil everything individually due to distributed attention and less concentration. One must have only one internet market site to improve and develope.
