To help you stay on top of things, here are some few kitchen design trends that will surely boost your property’s resale value:
DIY is in the ‘In’ Thing
To revitalize and upgrade your kitchen’s look, you need not always replace items or overhaul the whole kitchen. Most times, all it takes is a little creativity and ingenuity to make things work. Kitchen cabinetry replacements can be very expensive especially if you’re having them custom-made by a pro. DIY refacing is the becoming the trend these days which could be performed without depleting your savings. Painting, staining, incorporating molding and applique patterns to old cabinets are just some ways you could uplift your kitchen’s look. Engaging into such a project with your family can also be a great way to spend quality time.
Energy-Efficient Lighting
People often ignore the importance of good lighting in the home. If you have not thought about incorporating such in your remodeling activities, reconsider. A room can have all the bells and whistles but without a good lighting, you are not uncovering the room’s full potential. Good lighting can transform a room’s aura dramatically and provide the warmth no furniture can ever provide. There is a wide variety of luminaries available today in different shapes, sizes, hues and tones. You can choose those that complement the kitchen counters, backsplashes, appliances and furniture. Use a combination of white and dimmer-adjustable yellow lights to allow lighting according to preference. And if you care about the environment, better go green with LED options since they are more energy efficient than compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). They provide good lighting while saving on energy consumption. They last for years too which is why more and more people are making the much-needed switch.
High-Tech Products Rule
Today’s homes are now technology-driven. Appliances and cabinet doors can now be operated with light finger-touching buttons. Lighting is equipped with sound sensors and can be turned on and off by clapping. Induction stoves are gaining popularity because they are more energy efficient since no heat is wasted to cook. They are also safer to use since the heat is directly transferred to the cookware which won’t get your hand burnt while cooking.
Shiny Hardware for a Polished Look
Stainless steel door handles and pulls, sinks, and appliances are the more popular choice these days because they are sleeker and cleaner to look at. They project uniformity and are much easier to maintain. Since they are rust-proof, they also last longer.

Energy efficiency is the most important thing that everyone need to remember while doing kitchen renovation. Energy efficient environment can make your kitchen more beautiful and echo-friendly.
Hi, Emma! I couldn’t agree more. Green remodeling is an initiative we all should all get into to reduce carbon footprint, which reaps long-term benefits for the planet.
Kitchen remodeling can be costly, but I think it’s definitely worth it. Especially if you just don’t like your kitchen anymore and it’s out of date. The kitchen is the main place where the family congregates, and it should have a good atmosphere, look clean and just comforting..
Hi Archie! Thank you for your comment. Yes, kitchen remodeling ain’t cheap especially if you want things to look good. However, the availability of a more economical but just-as-durable and great-looking (say, rta wood cabinets instead of custom wood) range of options nowadays make the remodeling initiative much easier on the pocket. The better news is that pursuing such activity increases your home’s equity, meaning you can put on a higher price tag on your property if you do consider to sell.
